Weekly Message October 2, 2026

Beloved brothers and sisters,

This Sunday is a big day in the life of our Cathedral.

It is the beginning of Sunday School! Our ministries are getting underway, our children are returning, and our community is coming together for another year of growing in faith and in fellowship.

And yes, I know. It is also the rescheduled Atlantic Antic.

But that does not mean you should skip church!

In fact, I would argue that it makes this Sunday an even more important opportunity to make a choice.

Choose Christ. Choose participation. Choose to be active in your Church community. Choose to invest in your spiritual development.

Too often, we find reasons not to attend. There is always something else happening. Another commitment. Another activity. Another place we could be. I get it…even in my own family we sometimes struggle with the seemingly never-ending schedule!

But our spiritual lives do not grow by accident. Our children do not develop a relationship with the Church by accident. And our community does not become stronger by accident.

It happens when we choose to participate.

So as we kick off another ministry year, let’s start on the right foot, together you and me! Bring your children to Sunday School. Encourage them to serve at the altar. Come to Divine Liturgy. See your friends. Meet someone new. Be present.

The Atlantic Antic will be there.

But this Sunday, Christ is calling us to be here.

Come to church. Come pray. Come participate. Come be part of the community we are building together.

I look forward to seeing all of you this Sunday as we begin another year of ministry, service, fellowship, and spiritual growth together.

Choose Christ. Choose community. Choose to be present.

With love in Christ,

Fr. Evagoras
