Weekly Message November 22, 2024
My Dearest Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we approach Thanksgiving, it offers us a moment to pause and reflect on the many blessings in our lives. Beyond the traditions of this holiday, our faith calls us to live in a constant state of gratitude.
In the words of Saint Paul, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). True thanksgiving is not confined to a single day or a specific meal. It is a way of life—a recognition that every good thing we enjoy comes from God.
This week, take some time to think about what you are truly thankful for. Is it the love of your family? The friendships that sustain you? The health you enjoy? Or perhaps it is the strength God has given you in moments of challenge.
Gratitude begins when we open our hearts to see God’s blessings, even in the smallest details of our lives.
Thanksgiving is also an opportunity to act. True gratitude inspires us to share our blessings with others, especially those in need. By doing so, we reflect the love of Christ and bring His light into the world.
As we prepare for this special day, may we embrace a deeper understanding of Thanksgiving—not just as a holiday, but as a reflection of our faith and our lives as Orthodox Christians.
Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed and joyful Thanksgiving season.
In Christ’s love,
