Weekly Message January 4, 2026

by Father Evagoras Constantinides on January 02, 2026

Beloved brothers and sisters,

The calendar has turned, and with it comes the familiar conversation about New Year’s resolutions. How much weight to lose. How often to get to the gym. How many books to read. How to be healthier, more productive, more focused.

All good things.

But every year, I find myself wondering why we so easily set goals for our bodies and schedules, yet hesitate to do the same for our souls.

What if this year we were just as intentional about our relationship with God?
How many Sundays will church be a priority, not a possibility?
How often will prayer find its way into the rhythm of the day, not only in moments of crisis, but in moments of gratitude and calm?

Spiritual goals do not need to be complicated or dramatic. They need to be honest and realistic. Coming to church more consistently. Beginning the day with a short prayer. Ending the night with thanksgiving. Making room for God in ways that fit real life, not ideal life.

The start of a new year is not about perfection. It is about direction. Small, faithful choices made consistently shape who we become. When God is placed at the center, everything else begins to find its proper place.

As 2026 begins, my hope is that alongside the goals written for our health, homes, and work, there is also space for goals that draw us closer to Christ.

With love in Christ,
Fr. Evagoras
