Weekly Message January 16, 2026
Beloved brothers and sisters,
Yesterday we celebrated a wonderful moment of pride for our community at the Archdiocesan Spelling Bee, hosted by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America for our parochial schools. Watching our students, Elias Sotiriadis and May Smith stand confidently and compete, representing our school and community so beautifully, was truly inspiring.
The moment reflected something deeply Orthodox and deeply Greek: discipline, preparation, courage, and respect for learning. These events remind us that excellence in education is a core value of our faith and our community, and that our children are being formed not only academically, but morally and spiritually as well.
I am especially proud to share that Elias from our school was the overall winner, a tremendous achievement and a testament to his hard work, focus, and perseverance! He represented A. Fantis and our Cathedral community with grace and confidence.
My sincere gratitude goes to the teachers, parents, and school leadership who make opportunities like this possible. This is how a strong community works: by investing in our children, supporting their growth, and celebrating their achievements together.
May we continue to encourage excellence, humility, and faith in the lives of our young people.
With love in Christ,
Fr. Evagoras
