My Dearest Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Sunday, we hear one of the most powerful and beloved parables in the Gospel—the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32). It is a story of sin and repentance, but most of all, it is a story of God’s boundless love and mercy.

We all know the story: a son takes his inheritance, wastes it on a reckless life, and finds himself broken, starving, and alone. In desperation, he decides to return to his father, hoping only to be treated as a servant. But instead of rejection, he is met with forgiveness, love, and a joyous welcome home.

This parable is not just about a young man who lived centuries ago—it is about us. How often do we, in big or small ways, wander away from God? How often do we choose our own desires over His will? And yet, no matter how far we stray, God is always waiting for us to return. Like the father in the parable, He does not stand with arms crossed in judgment, but runs to embrace us the moment we turn back to Him.

As we approach Great Lent, this Gospel reminds us that repentance is not about shame, but about restoration. It is an invitation to return home, to rediscover the love and mercy of God, and to embrace the life He calls us to live.

No matter where you are in your faith journey, now is the time to come home. God is waiting with open arms.

In Christ’s love,
