We are excited to offer Part One of a two-part Byzantine Music series at Saints Constantine and Helen Cathedral. This 11-week course is designed for anyone interested in learning the traditional chant of the Orthodox Church — no prior experience required!

Part One: Fall 2025
In this first section, students will:

  • Learn the basics of Byzantine notation and the eight-mode scale

  • Practice chanting exercises accompanied by audio recordings

  • Receive a full set of materials, including:

    • Archdiocesan music theory book

    • Exercise book

    • Access to audio recordings for home practice

Class Dates (Wednesdays at 6:00PM):

  • September 10, 17, 24

  • October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

  • November 5, 12, 19

Looking Ahead:
Part Two will begin after the New Year and will focus on learning foundational hymns from Orthros and the Divine Liturgy, chanted in both Greek and English.
