Beginning of the New Ecclesiastical Year

August 27, 2015       The Feast of St. Phanourios

Dear Parishioners,

O Fashioner of all creation, who made seasons and years by Your own authority, bless the crown of the year with Your goodness, O Lord, and preserve our rulers and Your city in peace, at the intercession of the Theotokos, and save us. Apolytikion of Indiction

As the summer begins to end and fall begins to arrive, I hope and pray that the Lord blessed you and your family with the joy and love that is transmitted in family events that are planned during the summer.

The A. Fantis Parochial School of SS Constantine and Helen Cathedral will begin Wednesday, September 9 and with highest expectations is ready to continue and to build on its great legacy.

St. James in his epistle says, “Faith without works is dead” JM2:14. The great tradition of the Cathedral is found in the strong faith and dedication of her parishioners. Many volunteer by serving on the Board of Trustees, Philoptochos, the Choir, Sunday School Teachers, Youth ministers as advisors and as coaches. I ask of each of you to look into your hearts and know your talents to find ways to contribute to the vibrancy of our historic community. Each person of faith plays a valuable and important role in the body of Christ, the Church.

Please make note of upcoming events:

Sept 9th: The 1st Day of School for A. Fantis

Sept 12th: Youth Barbeque and registration for Sunday School, Goya, Joy, Hope

Sept. 13th: Please bring back packs with school supplies to the church for                   needy students of PS 384

Sept 14th: The Universal Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross (Please bring basil from your gardens on Sunday the 13th)

Oct 4th: Philoptochos Luncheon

As we begin the new ecclesiastical year, I leave you with a quote from one of the hymns of the praises of this feast day, “Since we have all learned the Lord’s prayer, which Christ himself taught us, let us recite it daily to our God and Creator…!”

In Christ’s Ministry,
